Job Purpose:

To support the Purchasing Manager in the procurement of goods and services required for the business, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. The role involves maintaining supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, contractor and service schedule maintenance, and general administration duties of the Purchasing team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing raw materials, packaging, and other supplies in line with business requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels via our MRP system, and action accordingly when at reorder point.
  • Raise and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
  • Monitor order progress, expedite as necessary to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance, including delivery schedules, quality, and service levels.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and supplier documentation.
  • Liaise with internal departments to understand material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
  • Work with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times where necessary.
  • Assist in supporting sustainability initiatives by considering environmental and ethical sourcing practices in line with Broadway’s Policies.
  • Handle queries and resolve supply chain issues effectively.


Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, as point of liaison to the Sales, Technical and Operations team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Analytical mind set with problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to handling competing priorities.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain is desirable but not essential.
  • Working towards or holding CIPS qualifications would be an advantage.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is beneficial.
  • Experience of working on a MRP based system is beneficial.
