Since the launch of Broadway Colours’ Rotational Moulding Powders in 2012, we have really hit the ground running. Coupled with the acquisition of new premises in 2014 growth has been strong and steady.
All powders produced by Broadway go through a rigorous QC procedure, allowing us to produce high quality, cost effective powders. We have taken this procedure a stage further by investing in the latest Accelerated Weather Testing Station. This allows us to ensure that our colours not only look good, but they stay looking good. The machine has a pre-programmed set of conditions which vary the UV intensity, Relative humidity and of course, temperature – emulating exposure to the elements. We then track how the colour performs at set intervals using our Photo Spectrometer, which allows us to keep precise records for comparison to the standard. By installing the weather station we are able to QC check our colours to the ISO 4892-3 standard to ensure our customers receive nothing but the best.
Our extensive laboratory now also accommodates a fully customised impact tester and laboratory freezer. By having this equipment on site it means that we can be fully confident that our products are of high quality and most importantly, are up to the job. The freezer allows us to impact test in a range of temperatures starting as low as -45 degrees. Couple this with the newly acquired weather station and our customers can be confident that our products will stand the test of time, whatever the weather.
The expansion does not end there. In the factory the company has invested in a second 75mm single screw extruder, doubling the capacity of the factory’s compounding facility. There are plans in place to purchase a second grinder enabling us to turn around larger orders faster. By improving the infrastructure in this way, we are able to produce our powders more efficiently and effectively, which means that our products become more cost effective without compromising on quality.
Nick Barber, Operations Director said – “I am proud to say that, as a company, Broadway have always set the bar high in terms of quality and innovation. Expanding the laboratory has allowed us to scientifically prove this fact. It is all well and good telling people that your product is good, but we now have the physical proof to back this up. The world is a physically demanding place, and I am confident that our products will be able to stand up to anything Mother Nature throws at us. With the factory expanding, increasing production, it is more vital than ever to ensure that the quality of our products is not compromised. It is by improving the production machinery that we are able to keep costs down thereby passing the savings onto our customers. With all this new equipment on hand, coupled with highly experienced technical staff, I am certain that we are setting the standard for high quality powders.”
